General Lucky Irabor is the current Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. On the 26th January 2021 he was appointed the new Chief of Defence Staff by President Buhari Muhammadu Buhari.
Early Life
Lucky Irabor was born on October 5, 1965, in Aliokpu Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. He attended St. Patrick’s College, Agbor, for his secondary education. He is 58 years old as of 2023.
Education
General Irabor was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna as a member of the 34 Regular Course in 1983. He was committed to his work which landed him the post of Second Lieutenant on 28 June 1986 into the Signals Corps of the Nigerian Army. Irabor attended several military and civil courses both locally and abroad, including:
- Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji (AFCSC)
- Ghana Armed Forces Staff College, Teshi, Accra, Ghana
- National Defence College, Bangladesh
- Harvard Kennedy Schools of Government and Executive Education, the USA
Irabor holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and two Masters Degrees from University of Ghana and Bangladesh University of Professionals, Dhaka.
